PARTISANS was approached to design a compelling hotel experience here that could transform this functional eyesore into an engaging civic gateway and local economic driver without modifications to the existing garage.<\/p>\n<p>PARTISANS developed an overarching design strategy that addressed these goals, while also working to integrate the project with the colourful and idiosyncratic fabric of the city. The proposal for includes a 4 storey addition on-top of the existing 8-storey parking garage. The addition houses three floors of hotel rooms, while the top floor houses the lobby, lounge, and amenities. To service the hotel, a new shaft with two elevators rises the full height of the building. PARTISANS incorporated opportunities to involve the public in the design, including transforming the bulk of the garage into a canvas for public art that will be curated in consultation with the community.
